Chief Executive Officer
A seasoned leader with 15 years of renewable energy experience, Barnaby took the helm at Able Grid in August, 2017. Previously, he served at SunEdison in the roles of Director of Global Asset Management and Director of Operations for Utility-Scale Solar. As VP of Development at Axio Power (a utility-scale solar developer), he helped grow the company from 4 to 25 before it was acquired by SunEdison in 2011. His energy career began at GE Wind in the Renewable Energy Leadership Program and he held project development roles at both GE Wind and Clipper Windpower. Originally from Maine, Barnaby holds an MBA from Kellogg and an MPA from Harvard.
Chief Commercial Officer
David’s nine years in renewable energy include leading origination efforts for 8minutenergy in the West and Southwest with a focus on development and solar and storage sales. During his five years at SunEdison, he held a variety of origination, development, and finance roles across numerous utility and DG projects totaling hundreds of MWs. In 2015 and 2016, David served as DG Sales Director, leading storage sales efforts with SunEdison’s storage partners—Advanced Microgrid Solutions and GreenCharge. His renewable energy career began as a project developer for Axio Power, which was later acquired by SunEdison. He is from Western New York and holds an MBA and MS from the University of Michigan.
Chief Development Officer
Leading the development efforts at Able Grid, Eric’s passion is backed by more than eight years of experience in the renewable energy industry. Before joining Able Grid, he most recently served as Vice President at MAP Energy, where he managed investment and development activities for wind, solar, and energy storage projects. Those were spread across a nationwide portfolio of 24 GW in development, held by MAP’s 18 joint-venture development partners. Eric has a PhD in civil and environmental engineering from Stanford University and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Military Academy.
Market Director – West
Prior to joining Able Grid, Casey was director of the Power & Infrastructure unit at Sumitomo Corporation, where she led project and business development and oversight of operating assets in the company’s portfolio of six projects with a combined capacity of 750 net MW. Before Sumitomo, she worked in LNG commercial development at GDF Suez (Engie) as Asset Manager for its Canadian, Mexican, and U.S. wind, solar, cogen and biomass portfolio. During this period, Casey also sat on the board of the Atlantic Centre for Energy. Other roles she’s served in over the course of her 10 years in the industry have included Senior Consultant at Pace Global, and ERCOT and CAISO Power Trader at Fulcrum Power. Casey graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Texas at Austin with degrees in International Business Honors Program, Finance, and Liberal Arts.
Director of Origination
Is responsible for the commercialization of Able Grid’s energy storage projects in the US. He has over thirty years of experience in the energy industry in both wholesale and retail markets with extensive origination, business development, deal structuring, and contract negotiation experience. Prior to joining Able Grid, he worked for E.ON Climate and Renewables focusing on commercial transactions to support the development of energy storage, wind, and solar projects in the eastern US. He has also worked in the energy storage, IPP and utility sectors in a variety of positions. Tom holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois and a M.B.A. in Finance from Loyola University.
Prior to joining Able Grid, Sam’s seven years in the renewable energy industry included leading utility-scale solar strategy and development in North and South Carolina for Cypress Creek Renewables. There, he was responsible for the development and construction of several solar projects totaling hundreds of MWs. Prior to Cypress Creek, Sam was the Director of Project Development at Metrus Energy—an energy-efficiency-project-financing company focused on the commercial and industrial building retrofit market. Sam lives in Concord, MA and holds an MBA and MS from the University of Michigan.
Senior Director of Development
Christina’s 15 years of experience in land use and real estate began as the Director of Community Development in Cherry Hill Township, New Jersey. From there, she practiced land use and environmental law in California, where she counseled a variety of developer clients on local, state, and federal permitting requirements. Before joining the Able Grid team, Christina most recently worked for Google’s Energy & Land Strategy team in siting and expanding its data center campuses in the U.S. She holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and JD from Temple University.
Director of Real Estate
Dustin brings to Able Grid 16 years of experience in real estate law, commercial real estate development, and process management. His career began serving as a municipal prosecutor for the City of Thornton, Colorado, as well as legal counsel for various title insurance agencies. From there, he worked for the McDonald’s Corporation, resolving and enforcing legal rights and responsibilities for the company’s real estate assets, and managing the acquisition and disposition of real estate. Dustin has also worked in commercial development representing the interests of landowners, landlords, and tenants, including interactions with various government agencies. Most recently, he worked for CenturyLink on right-of-way acquisitions and contractor management issues. Dustin holds a JD from the University of Denver and a BA from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Director of Projects and Policy
Sara has held various roles in energy development over the last six years. Before joining Able Grid, she was responsible for the design and construction of utility-scale solar projects in North America at SunEdison. She also spent time at engineering firm, Ulteig, where she consulted with wind and solar developers on development and program management. Sara began her career in energy and environmental policy working for U.S. Senator Harry Reid. She holds an MBA and MS from the University of Michigan and a BA from Georgetown University.
Director of Energy Storage Solutions
As a valued member of the Able Grid team, Jason brings with him more than 13 years of experience in the design and engineering of renewable energy systems. He began his career in the industry at Underwriters Laboratories, where he managed renewable energy engineers and developed global laboratories for solar panels, inverters, and batteries. As the Energy Storage Technical Manager at Mortenson, he oversaw modeling, design, engineering, vendors, pricing inputs, and technical innovation. His goal there was to provide Mortenson’s customers with the most economical and technically-feasible solutions. Jason holds a BS in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.
Director of Strategy and Analytics
Dan has over seven years’ experience in the renewable energy sector. Prior to joining Able Grid, Dan spent time at both APL Renewables and SunEdison focused on market strategy and analytics for storage, utility-scale solar, and wind. At SunEdison, Dan was part of a nine-person origination team that executed utility-scale solar and wind projects totaling over one GW of PPAs. At each of these previous organizations, Dan supported broader origination and development efforts to identify priority markets and customer needs. He holds an MBA, MS, and BS from the University of Michigan.
Manager of Strategy & Analytics
Is part of the team responsible for evaluating the commercial and economic viability of Able Grid’s energy storage projects in the US. He has over 4 years of experience in wholesale energy storage development with direct experience in origination, techno-economic modeling, business development, wholesale capacity market participation and power marketing. Prior to joining Able Grid, he worked for Enel on their stand-alone wholesale storage development team which successfully negotiated 88MW|352MWh of contracted storage offtake with two California IOUs. Previous to Enel, Sam worked as an energy analyst specializing in finance and wholesale power markets engaging with clients in the solar, storage, gas and biomass generation space. Sam holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Bentley University.
